World Fair Trade Day is the largest Fair Trade event of the year in N. America. Businesses, nonprofit organizations, churches, student groups, civic associations, families, stores and advocates host hundreds of events – including Fair Trade food tastings, talks, music concerts, fashion shows and much more – to promote Fair Trade and campaign for trade justice together with farmers & artisans. arge.jpg    Eco and Fair Feed More (Austria, Arbeitsgemeinschaft zur Foerderung der Weltlaeden ARGE)
Öko+Fair ernährt mehr! (Eco and Fair feed more!) is a campaign about food crisis coordinated by Austrian Fair Trade NetworkArbeitsgemeinschaft zur Foerderung der Weltlaeden ARGE together with FIAN and Via Campesina Austria. This campaign demands political will from authorities to address global food crisis. Organizers are collecting signatures through postcards (download here, front and back) to send the message to authorities to include the food crisis in their political agenda. This year the campaign will kick off on 13 April in Vienna, Austria with experts participating in a panel discussion. To learn more, download the information flier of this event.

Fair Trade Towns to celebrate World Fair Trade Day
Fair Trade Towns Campaign will celebrate World Fair Trade Day with the launching of the declaration of 1,000 Fair Trade Towns in five continents. Formal sequential declaration of Fair Trade Towns will begin on 4 June. See events organized here. The one thousand duly recognized Fair Trade Towns have also organized various events for WFTDay. See more events here.Fair Trade Towns is a global campaign to transform municipalities and its people, corporate bodies and organizations to use Fair Trade products to increase Fair Trade sales and bring about positive change in the lives and livelihoods of farmers, artisans and workers in developing countries. There are five goals to this campaign: Local council passes resolution supporting Fair Trade; a range of Fair Trade products are available locally; schools, work places, places of worship and community organizations support Fair Trade and use Fair Trade products whenever possible; media coverage and events raise awareness and understanding of Fair Trade across the community; and, a Fair Trade steering group representing different sectors is formed to coordinate action around the goals and develop them over the years.     JUNETEENTH Worldwide Concert – World Fair Trade Day (Fair Trade Long Beach, CA)Long Beach Central Area Association produces annual JUNETEENTH WorldWide Concert at Terrace Theater/Long Beach Performing Arts Center. JUNETEENTH is the oldest celebration in the nation commemorating the ending of slavery. In addition to this historical event, each year we present collateral events to heighten awareness of current human right issues. The 2011 issue is FAIR TRADE. We will screen the PBS documentary BLACK GOLD and would like to organize a panel discussion and coffee tasting and will appreciate speaking with Long Beach Fair Trade.
