Cathy in the News! The California Aggie

My interview last evening with the UCD campus newspaper (The California Aggie) went very well. It will be out Thursday and be online by this Wed. A photo from the ALS walkathon will run with the article. Linda and I will be outta town, so can someone pick up some copies, please oh please?

Update:
I was interviewed last night by a fine reporter form the UCD campus newspaper, The California Aggie.
(Can anyone out there contact Anita Creamer at the Sac Bee, or another feature writer there to see if they can cover the Hero Next Door contest? I think they would enjoy writing about the incredible energy that is flowing in our community to fight ALS. They have my permission to call or email me or meet me in person.)

We will be outta town Wed Feb. 3 thru Feb8th. So an article closer to the time when the contest ends might give us a big voting surge before Feb 26th.

The nice young reporter, Samantha Bosio, said she's done tons of interviews, but this was her favorite, and that I was so inspiring, etc, blah blah. I think I just don't "Get it."
I'm living my life like I always have.

Before ALS, I was an advocate/activist for lgbt/marriage rights. And I facilitated a lesbian support group (free) for over ten years at UCD. Before that, I was an advocate for recovering alcoholics. Before that, I was an advocate for people with eating disorders. Before that, I was an activist for girls' sports. Before that, when I was in elementary school, I was an advocate for kids who got beat up by bullies--- so I beat up the bullies, and the scrawny kids felt safe. True stories! It started when I was in third grade, and kept up until 7th grade when finally the boys could out wrestle me.
So, you see, I don't feel like I'm doing anything different, and I sometimes feel kind of weirdly mystified when people say great things about me. It's just me, doing what I always do. Only I HONK more! And I have less energy to do all the things I would like to do.
Love and gratitude to you all.
Cathy
